My Sunday Prayer

Thank you for songs of praise and adoration, songs of glory and honor, for they give us words to worship you.

Thank you for the songs of the redeemed, Lord, for they are a gift for us to remember what you have done!

Thank you for the songs of Zion, for they set our sights on what is to come, your shekinah glory that surrounds your throne and captures the praise of heaven.

Thank you, Lord, for the songs of old and yes, the new ones that are even being written every day, for they capture our hearts and minds and give us words to express our praise and thanksgiving to the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Thank you for the life-giving breath in our lungs to sing forth with voices strong. Oh, may those who know you proclaim your greatness and majesty.

Oh, when we sing these songs together as your people, your children redeemed by the Lamb, your glory fills our places of worship. Our hearts overflow with love and adoration for who you are and what you have done. The sweetness of your presence, there’s nothing like it! Give us these moments of worship that our people will yearn for them. Remove all the obstacles of our praise. Tear down our idols, our walls obstructing your glory!

Fill our places of worship with your glory today. Do a work among us that only you can do. Move among us! Transform us and change us! Let us not settle for manufactured praise, for it’s empty and lifeless. Give us a glimpse of what’s to come, give us a glimpse of your mighty power and glory.

May the glory of the risen Lamb be proclaimed in all we do today.

Amen.
