My Sunday Prayer

Father, how I love the sounds of your people, gathering in your name. Their voices filling the room with the sounds of fellowship and laughter. They delight in joining together, to share this journey of life as brothers and sisters of the Son of God. Thank you, Lord, for the sweet sounds of fellowship and joy.

Father, how I love the sounds of your people, singing your praises, lifting their voices in song. How I love to hear them make music to the King, proclaiming the songs of Zion, singing the songs of the redeemed. Their music is sweet and true. Thank you, Lord, for the sweet sounds of singing and making music together.

Father, how I love to hear the silence of your people in quiet adoration and prayer. I don’t know the words they say, the prayers that are offered for themselves and others, but you know every word. With you, not one word is missed, not one request forgotten. Thank you, Lord, for the prayers of your people, for through them you move in mighty ways, and we see you at work all around.

Father, how I love to hear your word proclaimed through the preaching of your holy scriptures. They inspire, teach, admonish, convict, encourage, and challenge us in so many ways. You speak through your servants, your chosen messengers. Thank you, Lord, for the proclamation of the Word.

You have called each of us to lead your people and equipped us to do it well. By your Spirit, let us put on the robes of righteousness to stand in your presence and glorify your name. Anoint us to proclaim that you are the living God, the Holy One of Israel, and you are the Christ, our Redeemer and Lord. May today be glorious moments in worship and praise, in proclamation and power, as you move among us. May it all be to the glory of your name!

Amen.
