My Sunday Prayer

Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!

We join the throng and lift our voice to sing out loud hosannas to the King! Blessed are you, Jesus, for you are the Christ, the Son of the Living God. We raise our voices in praise and honor to you.

This morning, I pray for congregations to sing out their loud hosannas to the King. Let us not be timid or hold anything back. Let us raise the roof in adoration and praise to the One who comes in glory. Let our instruments be tuned for praise and let our voices be clear and strong as we proclaim the honor due to the Holy One of Israel. More so than this, Lord, let our hearts yearn for the return of the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Let us set our sights on the glory of heaven as we anxiously await the return of our Savior and Lord.

As we begin this Holy Week, I pray for all who will lead services. For all the work that will be done this week, Father, for all the special events and music and logistics, I pray you help us lead our people to the cross, to reflect upon its power and its meaning, for it is the power of God. It is salvation, it is forgiveness, it is the demonstration of your love for us.

In the midst of all that will happen this week, give us rest and moments of quiet reflection. We need your connection, we need your presence, we need your anointing. Let us not be anxious about anything but offer our prayers up to you and trust that you will move in the hearts of our people. May you be glorified in all that takes place in the coming week as we remember the events of Christ’s walk to the cross. Let us not rush to the resurrection, but fully grasp the depth of what you have done for us.

Thank you, Father, for your love for us and for giving your Son, Jesus, as a ransom for us.

Amen.
